About Calstock

Lovely village on the River Tamar not far from Devon, featuring a dramatic railway viaduct.

It was in medieval times most important for the silver mining and later copper too. Being close to the Tamar was a great benefit as its navigable and the quay was busy handling all sorts of goods, and bringing visitors too, until the railway was developed and took away the trade.
