"Very good, but...
We were captured by the excellent photographs of this cottage on the Sykes website, and felt it would be an ideal place to get away from it all. Which it was. Very comfortable and warm with excellent facilities. However, the off-road parking was a bit of a squeeze. That said, the owner did point out a little spot across the road as an alternative, just a few yards away.
The owner Paul, had kindly put milk into the fridge along with a couple of bottles of local cider, which was a very nice touch. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean and compact. The shower took a little getting used to, but was up to the job.
The kitchen was very well equipped, with more pots and pans than we actually needed, along with a good set of utensils. The garden was compact, but due to the time of year, this wasn't a concern.
Now, the one 'grumble' if that's what you'd call it was when we look for a cottage, we always look for certain criteria, one of which is a wi-fi/broadband connection, to enable us to keep in touch with family. This was advertised on the Sykes website as available, however reality was slightly different. The owner Paul on our arrival advised us that yes, there is a wi-fi connection.... at the end of the garden near the stream! He added that frequently "people come here to get away from that sort of thing, but there is also wi-fi available on the train" which is brilliant... but not exactly a true description on Sykes' Website. (The train station is literally the other side of the stream from the cottage.) This would probably be fine in summer, sat in the garden, etc, but less than ideal in November.
The only other minor point was that the cottage's location was quite remote in a valley. Whilst we love our peace and quiet, this was a little bit too remote for us. That said, this is our own fault for not checking the location more thoroughly, and is by no means a criticism of Paul or his cottage." - 4 star rating

"Ms
Chose this cottage for 2 main reasons, location and quirkiness from the advertised pictures. After a long drive from Scotland our initial expectation fell somewhat short.
The external appearance is requiring some attention with faded paintwork and dirty patio doors, the rear patio area is a far cry from that depicted and requires much improvement.
Once inside the interior matched the pictures but does require some attention to decor and replacement of older furnishings.
The kitchen was the best room in the house, well equipped and spacious.
The upstairs is nice with a sizeable bathroom, although the electric shower is somewhat unpredictable. The bedroom area was quite spacious, however the bedstead has probably seen better days although comfortable enough.
We were somewhat disappointed with the lack of any sort of welcome pack other than milk in the fridge. There were no cleaning products either. You need to supply all your own cleaning items and basic foodstuffs.
On the plus side the location and handy train stop at the bottom of the garden allowed us to travel far and wide exploring the area.
Overall a lovely holiday due to the area, this wee cottage requires some serious TLC to get it to the standard shown in the pictures.

The cottage was lovely, we especially loved the river running at the bottom of the garden & the train at the bottom of the garden that took us to Looe & Penzance. The peace & quiet was just what we needed & the owner was very pleasant."

The owners were extremely helpful and very friendly. It was a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay and having the train running at the bottom of the garden was excellent for trips to Looe and Liskeard at a very reasonable fare."
